Steamboat got a first-period goal from John Wharton and back-to-back early second-period goals from Michael Samuelson and Patrick Weston in their 6-1 win Saturday.
The Hayden High School girls basketball team blew out Vail Christian on the road, 72-39. The Rolando sisters paced Hayden. Junior Kelsey Rolando picked up her first varsity points, hitting four 3-point shots. Senior Kyra Rolando, meanwhile, had 14 points.
Playing in the consolation game of the Meeker Tournament against the host Cowboys, the Tigers picked up steam during the second half and pulled out a 63-50 win over a tough rival. Senior Graig Medvesk again led the team, finishing with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
Sailors finish home tournament in fourth place
For the third straight season, the Sailors girls basketball team played D’Evelyn in the Steamboat Springs Shoot-Out. The Jaguars started fast and used the full-court press to keep the Sailors out of the game, winning, 77-55.
Team falls to Windsor at home tournament
The Sailors lost today, falling 49-35 to Windsor in the the 12th annual Steamboat Springs Shoot-Out largely because of ball-control problems in the second half. The team finished its home tournament 1-2. The loss helped show the team what it needs to do to win.
Tabor and Tyler Scholl, of Kremmling, raced to titles at the 2010 AAU National Cross-Country Championships on Dec. 4 in Orlando, Fla.
Jewell, Wild place 5th, 6th
Alpine snowboarders Tyler Jewell and Vic Wild, who have trained with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, raced to top finishes Friday at a World Cup parallel giant slalom in Limone Piemonte, Italy.
The Steamboat Springs High School hockey team remained undefeated, easily skating to a 5-2 win Friday at Pine Creek.
The Steamboat Springs High School wrestling team didn’t emerge unscathed, but it did come away from a pair of Friday night duals plenty proud. The Sailors, a non-factor in wrestling in recent years, beat Battle Mountain, 34-33, in a dual in Glenwood Springs.

Sailors team struggles to take care of ball against Fossil Ridge at Shoot-Out
In a sloppy semifinal game of the Steamboat Springs Shoot-Out, Fossil Ridge’s full-court press was too much, and the Sabercats ran away with a 36-27 win against the Steamboat Springs High School girls basketball team Friday.

For 21 years, The Home Ranch Executive Chef Clyde Nelson has been tucked away at the ranch in Clark, cooking gourmet food using local ingredients.
