Steamboat Springs The Soroco High School girls basketball team kept its clean record intact with a pair of wins the past two days.
Soroco, 3-0, beat the Steamboat Springs junior varsity team, 56-25, on Monday and the Moffat County junior varsity squad, 50-47, on Tuesday.
Against Steamboat, Soroco jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Lindsay Miles and Ceanna Rossi led the Rams with 11 points each. Micaela Meyer had 11 rebounds and Madison George had six assists.
On Tuesday, Soroco led by as many as 11 points before struggling with Moffat’s pressure down the stretch.
The Rams were 1 of 5 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter but were able to do just enough for the win.
George led the Rams with 15 points, and Brandi Roundtree had 14. Corey Snyder paced Soroco on the boards with nine rebounds.
“We’re playing eight girls,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “In the three games, our top two scorers have been different every game. It’s a good balance. Hopefully down the road that will pay off. They’re doing a great job effort-wise.”
Soroco next plays at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Gilpin County.
