The Soroco High School boys basketball team opened the season Thursday with a 57-29 rout of North Park.
Soroco led by just seven at halftime, with North Park even cutting the lead to four, before the Rams burst out in the third quarter and ran away with the game.
“When we got it going again in the third quarter, it was never really in doubt,” Soroco coach Andy Johnson said. “We got some steals and easy baskets and made some free throws.”
The Rams were led by sophomore Nic Paxton’s 22 points. Pie Lombardi added seven, Michael Rossi scored six and Leif Carlson chipped in five.
“It’s a good place to start,” Johnson said, “but we still got work to do.”
Soroco next plays at 7:30 p.m. Monday at home against the Steamboat Springs junior varsity team.
