Steamboat Springs Downtown business advocacy group Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is seeking judges for the fifth annual Chuck Wagon Chili Challenge, sponsored by F.M. Light & Sons. Chili judges are needed from 10:30 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. Sept. 5 on Eighth Street, between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street.
Judges need no experience, other than a love of red, green and firehouse chili, along with salsa and cornbread, Mainstreet reported in a news release. Judges will be given taster cups and assigned to taste one kind of chili after a short training. Judges will receive commemorative aprons and free admission to the event. Backpacker Magazine coming to Ski Haus
Backpacker Magazine is bringing its Get Out More Tour, presented by Woolrich, to Ski Haus at 7 p.m. Sept. 14. Tour leaders Randy and Sheri Propster will visit Steamboat Springs as part of their nationwide effort to promote the outdoors. The Propsters will lead presentations with advice, skill tips and more about exploring the outdoors, with giveaways of outdoor gear. Learn more at www.backpacker.com/getoutmore.
Several Chamber events planned in September
The Chamber has several events next month for members of the local business community. A Business Outlook Breakfast is at 8 a.m. Sept. 15 at Rex’s American Grill & Bar, adjoining the Holiday Inn at Steamboat Springs on U.S. Highway 40 near Walton Creek Road. A panel representing various industries will discuss the economy and future outlooks. Coffee and pastries will be provided. The cost is $10 for Chamber members.
A Corks & Connections event, which includes business tips while networking over wine, is at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Cellar Liquors, 730 Lincoln Avenue in downtown Steamboat. Space is limited. The cost is $10 for Chamber members.
Finally, an informational meeting about an opportunity to visit China through the Chamber is from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Rex’s.

Chamber seeks help for Wild West Air Fest event
The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is seeking volunteers Saturday and Sept. 5 for the sixth annual Wild West Air Fest, part of the Steamboat Springs Labor Day Weekend Celebration.
