Steamboat Chamber to host mixer Wednesday

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Assoc­iation is hosting a business after-hours mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rex’s American Grill & Bar, adjoining the Holiday Inn of Steamboat Springs on U.S. Highway 40 near Walton Creek Road. The mixer features free food, drink, prizes and live music for Chamber members and their guests.

Radio show expanding its hours and coverage

The Cari and Rob Show, which broadcasts out of a Yampa Street studio in downtown Steamboat Springs, is expanding its airtime and coverage starting Sept. 7. The show will broadcast from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays — adding an hour to the end of its current time slot — and will add 1230 KEXO Talk Radio in Grand Junction to its broadcast stations. The politically focused talk show also is broadcast on KRAI AM-550 out of Craig and KVEL AM-920 out of Vernal, Utah.

Smart Dreamzzz scores Boston hospital order

Smart Dreamzzz, a local business that provides tools to help children fall asleep and stay asleep, relaxed and happy, has received a request for 300 CDs from Children’s Hospital Boston, business owner and founder Dr. Kristen Race said in a news release. Steamboat Springs City Councilman Kenny Reisman, Race’s husband, helps with the business. The Boston hospital intends to use the CDs with its patients, Race stated in a news release. Mainstreet Steamboat is seeking chili judges

Downtown business advocacy group Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is seeking judges for the fifth annual F.M. Light and Sons Downtown Hoedown and Chuck Wagon Chili Challenge. Chili judges are needed from 10:30 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. Sept. 5 on Eighth Street, between Lincoln Avenue and Oak Street.

Judges need no experience, other than a love of red, green and firehouse chili, along with salsa and cornbread, Mainstreet said in a news release. Judges will be given taster cups and assigned to taste one kind of chili, after a short training. Judges will receive commemorative aprons and free admission to the event.
