— Steamboat Springs police were looking for a man Friday who reportedly tried to kidnap a 14-year-old girl in downtown Steamboat that afternoon.

Officer Stuart Hutton said the man was described as Hispanic, in his late 40s to early 50s and wearing dirty, baggy jeans. He had no facial hair and spoke broken English.

The man reportedly tried to grab the girl and told her, “come on, let’s go,” several times as she walked on in the alley between Lincoln Avenue and Yampa Street near Fifth Street. The girl broke free and ran back to the business where she was working, police said. She was not injured.

Police did not provide any additional information about the incident Friday evening. Those with information about the incident can call Steamboat Springs police at 970-879-4344.
