Steamboat briefs: Registration now open for city’s fall youth programs

Steamboat Springs Registration is open for the city of Steamboat Springs fall youth programs, including after school action, school days off, kids night out, peewee adventures and enrichment clubs.
Session 1 after school enrichment clubs include archery, gymnastics, swim lessons, learn to skate and initiation to hockey, cooking and geocaching.

Zero Waste Initiative seeks Friday concert volunteers
Yampa Valley Sustainability Council’s Zero Waste Initiative is seeking volunteers to help educate the public about recycling and composting at the next Free Summer Concert Series event, JJ Grey & Mofro on Friday at Howelsen Hill. Shifts are two hours from 5 to 7 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and all volunteers receive a free meal.
Any local nonprofit that provides eight or more volunteers for the event will earn a $100 donation for its organization, according to a news release. E-mail zero@yvsc.org to volunteer.
VNA offers birth control, free screenings for women
Free birth control is available with an appointment through the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Family Planning Program, including IUDs, Nuvaring and Implanon. No income requirements. VNA also offers low-cost women’s health care and STD screenings.
