Steamboat's Ride 4 Yellow event draws massive crowd

More than $300,000 was raised and collected for cancer-fighting charities during Sunday’s Ride 4 Yellow event, where 200 riders, including Lance Armstrong, rode 26 miles from Dumont Lake on Rabbit Ears Pass, past the lakes of Routt County’s backcountry, over the top of Steamboat Ski Area and down, to the top of the gondola, where a large crowd awaited.

Crash near Craig sends two to hospital

Brandon Cumberledge, 17, of Colorado Springs, and Gladis Anel Soto Aragon, 28, of Craig, were hospitalized Saturday with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening after their cars collided on U.S. Highway 40, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.

Our View: Water rates merit more explanation

The Steamboat Springs City Council was presented a study last week that recommends substantial and sustained water and wastewater rate increases for all customers. If approved as recommended, the typical residential water bill for a single-family home that uses 7,000 gallons of water per month would increase 14 percent in 2011.

The Colorado Procure­ment Technical Assistance Center hosts a free seminar about how to do business with the government from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bogue Hall at the Colorado Mountain College Alpine Campus. Stagecoach Master Plan update in limbo

Funds cut by commissioners; long-range planner laid off

An update of the Stagecoach Master Plan would be the first thing added back to the county planning agenda if the resources were available. But after the long-range planner was laid off and the office remains busy with other projects, it’s unlikely that will happen any time soon.
