St. Cloud Mountain Club to retool night scene, scale back hours

The St. Cloud Mountain Club at the base of Mount Werner is undergoing a makeover that doesn’t include keeping the popular Powder Room Lounge that opened there during the ski season. General Manager Luke Dudley said the club is retooling its night scene.

A traffic backup on U.S. Highway 40 resulted from the three-vehicle crash on the west side of town. One man was taken to the hospital, police said.

Andy Caress, 24, is remembered as a goodhearted athlete who made his mark on Steamboat in the short time he was here. Caress lost his battle with melanoma Wednesday in Cincinnati.

Challenging Saturday event filled to brim, organizers report

Saturday's Mount Werner Classic, part of the Steamboat Springs Running Series, has hit its 125-runner cap for the first time in history. The run from the base of the gondola at the ski area is one of the most challenging in the series, organizers said. Saturday’s races start at 8 a.m. with the 12-mile race and 8:30 for the 5-mile version.

Court of Appeals remands West Acres case back to District Court

Today's ruling reversed a Routt County District Court decision that denied residents of West Acres Mobile Home Park the right to sue for compensation over the condemnation of a greenbelt in their neighborhood. The greenbelt is the site of the ongoing construction of Gloria Gossard Parkway.

Tickets still available for ‘The Water Knows My Name’ tonight

"The Water Knows My Name" is a coming-of-age musical put on by students from the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp. It's the second part of a two-part Youth Festival put on by the Perry-Mansfield Youth Intensive students. The Youth Festival is at 7:30 p.m. today and Friday in the Julie Harris Theatre.

Lance Arm­strong and Gov. Bill Ritter announced plans for an elite, seven-stage international cycling race to take place next summer. The Quiznos Pro Challenge will be the first pro cycling event of significance in the state since the Coors Classic, which ran from 1979 to 88.

Hayden Town Council considers waiving some fees for hospital project

Solandt Memorial Hospital in Hayden is getting a face-lift. A concession the Hayden Town Council will consider tonight would allow the hospital’s Board of Trustees to dedicate funds to another part of the project.
