Steamboat Springs Aging Well, a program of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Routt County Council on Aging, will host an all-day workshop Aug. 28 for caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The Savvy Caregiver workshop will help caregivers develop a better outlook and skills for the benefit of the person they are caring for and themselves. Emmalie Conner, regional director of the Alzheimer’s Association in Fort Collins, will facilitate the workshop with Barbara Bronner, coordinator of a local support group for family members of people with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The workshop is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Yampa Valley Medical Center. A $25 donation is suggested for the workshop and materials. Space is limited. To allow caregivers to attend the all-day workshop, the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will provide complementary adult day/respite service at the Rollingstone Respite House in Steamboat Springs.
