Saturday is World Meningitis Day. Vaccination is the best way to help protect students from meningococcal meningitis, according to information from the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other leading medical groups recommend meningococcal vaccine for preteens and teens ages 11 to 18, college freshmen living in dormitories, and children 2 to 10 years old who are at increased risk or if elected by their health care providers and parents.

For more information or to schedule an appointment for vaccination, call the VNA at 970-879-1632 or 970-824-8233.
