The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Duckels did not install an irrigation system safely and did not adequately train its employees about the hazards of pressurized pipes. The construction company plans to appeal the citation, which includes two violations and $7,000 in fines.

The doldrums of spring are about to end. The Steamboat Golf Club officially will open Friday — the first area course to open. The course will open to members only. But Friday tee times that remain open as of 5 p.m. today will be open to the public.

Our View: Down payment program merits praise
The Yampa Valley Housing Authority’s down payment assistance program has started distributing loans, and that’s excellent news. The affordable housing discussion in Routt County and Steamboat Springs often has raised more questions than answers, but this down payment assistance program is one much-needed tool in the toolbox.
