— Registration is open for Yampatika’s 2010 Summer Camps. Yampatika is offering weeklong programs at the Environmental Learning Center at the Legacy Ranch for children ages 5 to 14. Yampatika’s programs provide children hands-on opportunities to explore their natural surroundings and are designed to inspire environmental stewardship through education. Camps include Wilderness Pioneers I and II for ages 12 to 14, teaching map, compass and GPS skills as well as wilderness ethics and Leave No Trace practices.

Wilderness Pioneers experience a pack-in, pack-out field trip at the end of the week. There also will be an optional overnight experience for Junior Naturalists, ages 9 to 11. Need-based scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis, thanks to The Craig Scheckman Family Foundation. E-mail Yampatika at info@yampatika.org for details.
