— A spec home on Anglers Drive that was listed for $6.77 million 11 months ago sold this week for $4 million. The buyer also sold the sellers an undeveloped lot in The Sanctuary that closed on the same day.

Mark and Diane Halvorson, of Snow Country Construction, built the grand home they sold this week on 1.25 acres they bought from Don Valentine in summer 2007 for about $950,000. They aimed high, building a house with unfettered views of the ski slopes through 30-foot-tall windows.

The 6,541-square-foot home has five bedrooms and six bathrooms. It has many luxury touches, from a chilled beverage drawer in the kitchen and an espresso machine that is tied into the plumbing system, to a dog washing facility in the large garage.

Listing Realtor David Baldinger Jr., of Steamboat Village Brokers, described the home as being near the top of the national luxury home market in May 2009.

“It’s in the absolute luxury market for the U.S.,” Baldinger said. “This is as nice as it gets.”

He cited market research indicating that no more than 150 homes in this price range sell in Colorado each year, and the national number is only 1,500.

The buyer is the Gerald M. Shapiro Trust. Shapiro is a lawyer in Northbrook, Ill., who co-founded a company called the LOGS Network.

It was the first to use Web-based software to create a network of law offices and title agencies that is able to provide national representation to mortgage lenders.

LOGS dominated foreclosure and bankruptcy work nationwide until the early 1990s, according to company literature.

On the same day the sale of the home in Eagles View closed, the Halvorsons bought the 0.45-acre Sanctuary lot from Shapiro and his wife, Olivia, for $625,000.
