Mixed media artist Lelija Roy expects most anyone driving from Denver to Steamboat Springs this time of year to be wowed by the changing aspen trees. But she doesn't expect anyone to stop and feel the texture of the bark. That's where her collection of paintings and mixed media pieces depicting aspens comes in.

Gallery closes for fall next week; store looks for more artists

The display gallery at Steamboat Art Museum will be dark this fall, but the museum store is scheduled to stay open six days a week. The store is looking for new contributing artists with quality wares to fill out its fall and winter inventory, said museum shop volunteer Barbara Flowers.
