— Dustin Dahlin, of Phippsburg, was pronounced dead at Yampa Valley Medical Center on Wednesday night after being ejected from his car during a crash on Routt County Road 33.

Dahlin, 36, was the manager of Big O Tires and Grease Monkey in west Steamboat Springs.

Colorado State Patrol troopers were dispatched at 7:45 p.m. to the one-vehicle rollover accident on C.R. 33, about three miles south of downtown Steamboat Springs.

Trooper Brady Kobus said it appeared that Dahlin was heading southbound when he lost control of his SUV while rounding a curve in the road. Kobus said the car struck a delineator post and crashed through a fence. Dahlin was ejected when the SUV rolled.

It didn't appear he was wearing a seat belt and there were no passengers in the vehicle, State Patrol Sgt. Scott Elliott said.

Dahlin was transported to YVMC where he was pronounced dead, Elliott said.

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg said alcohol was a factor in the crash. Ryg said he thinks the cause of death was a massive head injury.

Elliott said the crash still was under investigation as of this morning.

He chose to drink and drive. He was not a victim. He was a selfish person who put other lives in danger. It amazes me that you "can't believe this." Guy drives more than double the speed limit while drunk? I can believe it! I'm just glad no innocent people died beside him in that cow pasture!!
