Lately, Eileen Jones has been talking to her dog in a New Jersey accent. In the two months or so since she was cast as Debra, a constant con and aunt to the main character in the darkly comic play "Kimberly Akimbo," Jones estimates her time spent rehearsing, gathering props and memorizing lines for the community theater production at about 400 hours.

As the city nears final approval of a lease agreement for the Iron Horse Inn, some say the former hotel is fulfilling its intended purpose of providing long-term affordable rentals and should not be operated as a nightly rental facility that would compete with local lodges. On Tuesday, the Steamboat Springs City Council preliminarily approved a three-year lease with Boulder-based New West Inns, owners of the Comfort Inn in Steamboat, to manage the Iron Horse Inn.

Red Hawk homes in Stagecoach evacuated after gas leak

All 28 homes in the Red Hawk Village subdivision in Stagecoach were evacuated Wednesday after someone reportedly backed over a buried propane tank, sending hundreds of gallons of the gas spilling out at about 1:30 p.m. By about 3:30 p.m., residents were told they could re-enter their homes for the night.
