First step taken toward city vote on Steamboat 700 annexation

It looks as if the Steamboat Springs City Council - regardless of the outcome of the Nov. 3 election - will put Steamboat 700 to a citywide vote rather than repeal the annexation if petitioners gather enough signatures to trigger the city's referendum process.

Fire at Craig Motel

Firefighters battled blaze on Yampa Avenue

Craig Fire/Rescue responded at 11 a.m. to a structure fire at the Craig Motel, 894 Yampa Ave., and immediately saw spurting flames, Fire Chief Bill Johnston said. There were no reported injuries during the incident, which department officials determined was caused by a faulty wall-mounted heater.
