Silverthorne Six months after Home Depot's plan for a Silverthorne store received initial approval from town council, the retailer submitted a second version Tuesday - two days before the deadline.
For a second town approval, Home Depot's building concept must fit all of Silverthorne's building and design requirements.
"They haven't made substantial changes to the project that was approved at sketch plan," said Community Development Director Mark Leidal. He said the town would focus on technical engineering plans - like drainage, water quality and a traffic analysis - in the second round of planning.
The home-improvement chain wants to build a 100,000-square-foot store south of Interstate 70, near the outlet stores close to the base of the Dillon Dam. Frisco residents voted down a plan for Home Depot to build a big-box store on town-owned land behind Wal-Mart five years ago.
The home-improvement chain has since focused its attention on a piece of privately owned land in Silverthorne already zoned for commercial use.
When Silverthorne council members approved a first draft of the plan for a new Home Depot in April, they said they still had questions about which road improvements would be required for the store's opening day (a town requirement), and if the town would consider cost-sharing for road construction.
