Steamboat Springs — Matt Jones, a sophomore at Christian Heritage School, attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security: Exploring American Diplomacy, Intelligence and Defense from Tuesday to today in Washington, D.C.

Jones, 15, the student council president at CHS, was nominated to attend the six-day program that introduces students to the challenging careers in national security, intelligence, the diplomatic corps and others.

Students participate in activities that promote critical thinking, leadership and public speaking to examine national decision-making. They also participate in question and answer sessions with policy makers and military leaders. Past participants also have visited government and military facilities.
