— About a dozen local artisans and organizations will showcase their products today at the annual Moonhill Schoolhouse and Community Center’s Holiday Bazaar.

“We’re really proud of what we do, and we really enjoy it,” said Sandy Clark, a board member of Moonhill Schoolhouse and Community Center. Admission to the Holiday Bazaar is free.

Barb Ross, K.C. Cummings, Chris Bradley and Nora McKay will sell their wares, including watercolor paintings, wood crafts, scented pine cone fire starters and handmade grocery and wine bags.

Mystic Bliss Creations will have bath and body products, Best Routt Designworks will have jewelry and Soapworks will have handmade soaps. Stella Peroulis will provide Greek goodies.

Representatives from the North Routt Early Learning Center will sell holiday wreaths, and proceeds from a Ten Thousand Villages fair trade product sale will benefit artisans across the world. Routt County Woolens will have its good for sale. The Routt County CattleWomen will forward all proceeds from their handmade items to a scholarship fund.

Most participating artisans are North Routt residents or have a connection to the area, and many have participated in the Holiday Bazaar for more than 10 years, event organizer Barb Lynn said.

Moonhill Schoolhouse and Community Center board members will sell chili and baked goods as a fundraiser to keep the building open throughout the winter. The registered historic schoolhouse, constructed in 1913, is open to community events and private functions.

It has hosted the Holiday Bazaar for about 15 years, held a Christmas potluck and a Halloween party for children, and is open to a variety of community events and organizations, including first aid training, fitness classes, Girl Scout meetings and 4-H meetings.

The schoolhouse board is hoping to raise $1,000 for operational costs from today’s bazaar and a campaign for local donations, Clark said. If you’d like to send a donation to the Moonhill Schoolhouse and Community Center, mail it to P.O. Box 973, Clark, CO 80428. Moonhill School and Community Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group.
