At least for the moment, things are back to normal for the Steamboat Springs High School football team. With a week separating the team from its first-round Class 3A playoff victory against Berthoud, and on the eve of its second-round showdown with Windsor, Steamboat coach Aaron Finch said this week feels more like the rest of them.

Routt jobless rate rises in October
6.1% of labor force was unemployed, up from 5.9% in September
Routt County's unemployment stood at 6.1 percent in October, up from 5.9 percent in September, according to state figures released today. The number of people in the county's labor force continues to decrease. Statewide, unemployment fell from 7 percent in September to 6.9 percent in October.
2009 hunting season slower than usual
Leland Reinier, owner of Big Cat Taxidermy in Craig, said business has suffered this year because the number of hunters has dropped. When there aren’t large numbers of out-of-town hunters, the community suffers, Reinier said.
