Athlete of the week: Jack Burger
Steamboat Springs High School junior Jack Burger is this week's Steamboat Pilot and Today athlete of the week.
Jack Burger
School: Steamboat Springs High School
Year: Junior
Age: 16
Height: 5 feet, 5 inches
Sport: Cross-country, tennis, Nordic skiing and lacrosse
Interesting fact: Burger is one of six children in his family and a part of one of two sets of twins. Jack and his twin, Keegan, played at the state tennis tournament.
Why Burger: Jack Burger earned trips to two state championships this fall, playing first in the tennis state tournament last month and then running Saturday in the state cross-country meet. He led the Steamboat team with a 31st-place finish.
Quotable: “Most of the week, cross-country practice would be at 4 p.m., then tennis at 5:30, so I could usually make it to both. Some days I would run from cross-country to tennis. I just really like both sports.”
