Steamboat Springs Parents on the Steamboat Springs High School After-Prom Party committee still are accepting donations in preparation for tonight's event.
Organizers are looking for monetary donations, prize donations and workers to help with Sunday morning clean-up efforts. The event is expected to cost about $13,000.
"I think we've done well, but we can always do a little bit better," parent Bethanne Dressel said.
The event will include a mechanical bull, line dancing, two bands, dodge ball, carnival games, a hypnotist, a storyteller, food, drinks and movies all night long at the high school to provide an activity for students after the dance. Parent Jeanne Parsons said the group has come close to fundraising goals but still is looking for more prizes to give away to students during the midnight to 5:30 a.m. lock-in. To donate, call Parsons at 846-8386.
USA Weekend now part of Saturday's Today edition
Beginning today, the Steamboat Pilot & Today will offer a copy of USA Weekend in each edition of the Saturday newspaper. USA Weekend is a nationally distributed magazine that reaches more than 49 million newspaper readers every week.
USA Weekend focuses primarily on lifestyle and entertainment content, including celebrity news and interviews; money, health and parenting tips; and reader games and puzzles such as Sudoku.
"Adding USA Weekend to our Saturday paper provides readers with another source of news and information, particularly content not typically found in the pages of the Steamboat Today," Editor Brent Boyer said.
Boyer said the newspaper will continue to carry its other news magazines, including American Profile, Relish and Spry.
