Gold, Schaffrick to be featured on Fuel TV

Two of Steamboat's - and the nation's - best young snowboarders will be featured on Fuel TV's hit show "New Pollution."
The show, which features the three extreme sports stars 16-and-younger, will have segments on local snowboard prodigies Taylor Gold and Maddy Schaffrick.
Gold's episode airs at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, while Schaffrick's airs at 6:30 p.m. May 10. Fuel TV is on Comcast channel 409, and DirectTV channel 618.
Film crews from Fuel TV spent multiple days at the Steamboat Ski Area filming both riders. Show host and professional surfer Matt Beacham also interviewed Gold and Schaffrick to get an inside look at their lives.
"We pretty much focused on the different features one by one," Schaffrick said. "I'd hike the pipe a little bit and then go ride a rail for a little bit. It was all around the pipes and rails, but it was a lot of fun."
Past seasons of the show - which highlights snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing and BMX riding - have featured skateboarder Chaz Ortiz, BMX rider Dennis Enarson, surfer Alana Blanchard and snowboarder Ellery Hollingsworth, among others.
For Gold, the experience was exciting and nerve-wracking. Having a crew follow him snowboarding all throughout Steamboat was something completely different.
"You have to think about what you need to do get the shot," he said. "But overall it was fun. Having the crew around made me ride better."
Gold's segment was filmed in early January. He said he spent part of the shoot just doing some free riding around the area before going to the pipe and rails. He also shot a day at Copper Mountain.
"It was pretty fun," he said. "They were fun to work with and I think the show was really fun to watch."
