Occupation: Owner of Spindle 1 Bike Tours, LLC; mechanic at Orange Peel Bicycle Service

Place of birth: Boulder

Q. When did you move to Routt County, and what brought you here?

A. In the fall of 1988 to attend Colorado Mountain College, and yes, to ski.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?

A. No hands, no feet on the bicycle for a while.

Q. Describe your morning routine.

A. Good coffee, more good coffee, world news on my lightning fast free Internet, tinkering on the bike of the day, a tasty snack and then, hang on, it's time to ride!

Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?

A. "A People's History Of The United States" by Howard Zinn. This was the first time I realized history could be told by many people and in many different versions.

Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

A. Don't ask, don't get.

Q. What two things would you want people to know about you?

A. 1) My girlfriend is the most beautiful person in the whole wide world. 2) Spindle 1 Bike Tours LLC is now open for business.

Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?

A. A professional bike racer.

Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be, and what would you talk about?

A. My girlfriend, Barack Obama, Bruce Lee and Albert Einstein. We would talk about today's health care - I mean lack of affordable heath care. Also, how to continue the bike path west of town before somebody gets hurt - having to ride on a section of highway where cars are driving up to 50 mph with absolutely no shoulder on the road, many people and families want to commute on their bikes year round but can't because of this very dangerous and short section of road. And after that, just sit back and listen.

Q. Do you collect anything?

A. I have issues with clutter, so not many random knickknacks lying around.

Q. In the Meatloaf song, "I'd do anything for love, but I won't do that," what is that?

A. Actually attend a bluegrass concert.

Q. What was your first job?

A. Bagging groceries at the local market. Still today can appreciate a well-packed bag.

Q. Who is your favorite superhero? Why?

A. Flash Gordon. Watched the movie as a child and thought it was cool.

Q. Do you have a tattoo? If so, what of and why did you choose it?

A. No, I haven't had a vision of what I would want. Maybe someday?

Q. Do you have any phobias?

A. Insects and bicycle front fork failure at speed.

Q. If you could go back in time, to what event or time period would you go?

A. The height of the Anasazi world in the American Southwest.

Q. What is your favorite thing to do in Routt County?

A. Play hard with my friends.
