Bonnie Carrico

Age: 36

Occupation: Town of Hayden police clerk

Place of birth: Grand Junction

Q. When did you move to Routt County, and what brought you here?

A. I moved from Grand Junction to Hayden in May of 2004. I have 2 children, a girl, Morgan, 14, and a boy, Jay, 9. I wanted to raise them in a smaller, close-knit community. We found that in Hayden.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?

A. The move away from Grand Junction. I had worked for the local newspaper for 13 years, and I worked a lot and didn't see my children much. It was a huge decision to make a life change and move here.

Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?

A. "Where the Red Fern Grows," which I read the first time when I was 10. It reminds me how strong true love is.

Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

A. My grandmother always told us that if someone didn't have a smile to give them one of yours. That has always stuck with me.

Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and what would you talk about?

A. I would invite Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein and George Washington. I would like to know their thoughts on the state of America's financial future and how they would fix it.

Q. What was your first job?

A. I worked at Honey Treat Yogurt in Mesa Mall.

Q. Who is your favorite superhero? Why?

A. Batman; his story was somewhat believable.

Q. Do you have any phobias?

A. Yes. I hate heights.

Q. If you could go back in time, to what event or time period would you go?

A. The Old West. ... Who doesn't love the cowboy way?
