Hayden's Destination ImagiNation teams placed third, fifth and ninth at a regional tournament Saturday in New Castle.

The Hayden High School team, consisting of Ian Cadenhead, Ashleigh Muhme and Noah Murray, placed third, qualifying for the state tournament April 17 at Metropolitan State College of Denver, according to program coordinator Julie Smith. The team also won honors including the DaVinci Award for creativity, the Spirit of DI Award for teamwork and the College Invest Award. The final award went to only two teams in the region, and Hayden received it because Murray mentors Cadenhead, who is in seventh grade.

The Hayden Valley Elementary School team Video Hits placed fifth, and the other elementary team, The Amazing DI-tectives of Breeze Street, finished ninth.

In Destination ImagiNation, teammates use problem-solving skills and creativity to tackle challenges.
