Bob Enever: Softball pitches

Steamboat Springs Regarding the Triple Crown versus World Softball issue, I hope that City Council will reflect on the powerful influence that Triple Crown already has on council decisions, via the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association and the merchants. It's not a money issue; we will get about the same revenue and sales tax either way. But we should take this opportunity to reduce this city's dependence on one company. Triple Crown clearly wants to have a monopoly position - why else would they go to such lengths to keep out a competitor? That's exactly why we should welcome the competitor, to maintain our bargaining position. We must at least try to keep our options open, when the opportunity is presented.

I can't imagine a better place to hold a softball tournament. I agree Bob, the triple crown group treats us poorly and competition should be encouraged. We need to make sure that the new offer is solid though.
