Bill Demong made it two podiums for the weekend, finishing third Saturday in a Nordic combined World Cup event in Finland.

The U.S. Ski Team made history at the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in the Czech Republic. As a team, the U.S. finished second to Norway in the final medals count with a record six medals - four gold, a silver and a bronze.

Class notes: Hayden's Mahanna named Optimist Teen of the Month
Caitlin Mahanna, a senior at Hayden High School, was selected as the Optimist Teen of the Month. Mahanna, a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council, also remains active in sports including volleyball, basketball and track, along with weekend skiing. In her application, she wrote that during the summer she often can be found camping, rafting, biking and hiking. She maintains grades to be named to the school's high honor roll, and after high school graduation, she plans to study to become a lawyer or scientist.

The Board of Directors of the Yampa Valley Housing Authority would like to express its support of the Steamboat 700 Community Housing Plan's proposal to provide affordable and work force housing for the Yampa Valley community. It appears to support the policies of the West of Steamboat Springs Area Plan and offers the potential to significantly complement the mission of the YVHA.
