Nearly 6,000 people expected this weekend


— Steamboat Springs' lodging is forecast to be about 43 percent full this weekend, according to the lodging barometer from the Chamber Resort Association. That represents 5,900 people. Lodging was 61 percent full June 28, 2008, which represented 9,200 people.

Lodging is expected to be 35 percent full July 1 and 57 percent full July 4. The latter number represents 7,900 people expected to take up rental pillows during the Fourth of July holiday. Last year, lodging was 45 percent full on the comparable Saturday.

Lodging was 70 percent full June 20, up from an expected 62 percent. Steamboat has 17,281 pillows available to visitors.
