Steamboat Springs A ski resort official said Frontier Airlines' return to Yampa Valley Regional Airport is "unlikely."
Andy Wirth, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp.'s senior vice president of marketing, said Saturday that it was uncertain to unlikely that Frontier would offer ski season flights at YVRA in 2009-10. The Denver-based airline entered the local market in the 2008-09 season.
Frontier announced in September that it would add daily ski season flights from Denver to the Hayden airport. The service was scheduled to run Dec. 18 to April 22 on Bombardier Q400 aircraft operated by Lynx Aviation, a Frontier Holdings subsidiary. But Frontier has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, and Republic Airways Holdings announced its intention Monday to buy Frontier. If the deal goes through, Frontier will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Indianapolis-based Republic.
Calls for comment are out to Frontier and Republic officials.
