The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment said this week that products being recalled were produced on various dates ranging from May 23 through June 13 and have the establishment number EST. 6250 on packages. The recalled products are:
- 1-pound chubs of (93/7) ground beef, package case code 69558, use by/sell by dates between 05/31/09 and 06/21/09
- Tray packs have a use by/sell by date between 06/02/09 and 06/23/09 and include the following:
- 1 to 1.25-lb. tray packs of (96/4) ground beef, package case code 67164
- 1 to 1.25-lb. tray packs of (96/4) ground beef, case code 67664
- 1 to 1.25-lb. tray packs of (93/7) ground beef, package case code 67663
- 1 to 1.25-lb. tray packs of (93/7) ground beef, package case code 67163
- 2.5 to 3-lb. tray packs of (93/7) ground beef, package case code 67654
Ground beef patties have a use by/sell by date between 06/01/09 and 06/22/09 and include 6-pack trays of (93/7) ground beef patties, package case code 67106; and 4-pack trays of (93/7) ground beef patties, package case code 67115.

Steamboat Springs King Soopers and City Market have recalled 466,236 pounds of ground beef linked to 14 cases of salmonella in Colorado, including two confirmed cases in Routt County.
Kroger owns the companies. The stores sent an automated call Thursday to consumers who purchased the tainted meat and have a phone number on file with their shopper's card. The message said shoppers should not consume the meat and may return the meat or a receipt to the store for a full refund or exchange.
"Six people have been hospitalized; all are recovering. Individuals became ill between June 13 and June 28 and report purchasing their meat between June 1 and June 14," according to the news release from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that there is no reason to think the contaminated products still are for sale, but ti encourages consumers to check beef purchased during that time.
Ilanit Kateb, director of public health for the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, said the VNA is aware of the two confirmed cases but that "there's really not much going on" because the case has not prompted a response from the public health agency. Kateb said anyone concerned about salmonella can call the VNA at 879-1632.
King Soopers has set up a hot line at 1-800-632-6900 for consumers. Consumers are encouraged to cook meat to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
