— Age: 46

Occupation: Executive director, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps

Place of birth: Lowville, N.Y.

Q. When did you move to Routt County, and what brought you here?

A. I moved here in 1990. Skiing brought me here in my old pickup, but the community kept me here.

Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?

A. I swam Crystal Rapids (in the Grand Canyon).

Q. Describe your morning routine.

A. Wake up at 6:30 a.m., count my many blessings, walk my dog, Bud, wake my boys, eat blueberry pancakes, have coffee and head to town.

Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?

A. "The Closing Circle," by Barry Commoner. It changed my life because it made me realize that everybody and everything is related, and we should all be nice.

Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

A. Be yourself.

Q. What three things would you want people to know about you?

A. Steamboat's the biggest town I've ever lived in, I have two great sons, and I live in a log cabin.

Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and what would you talk about?

A. I'd invite Bob Dylan, Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama and Greg Mortenson (author of "Three Cups of Tea"), and we would talk about change and making a positive difference in the world.

Q. What was your first job?

A. Baby sitter.

Q. Who is your favorite superhero? Why?

A. Underdog, because he's so unassuming, and he's the underdog, you know?

Q. If you could go back in time, to what event or time period would you go?

A. I can't decide between Woodstock and Martin Luther King's speech - one is cerebral, and the other is not. It's my left brain fighting with my right brain.
