Class notes: Steamboat student makes Phillips Academy honor roll

Steamboat Springs Marilyn Harris, of Steamboat Springs, was named to the spring honor roll at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., a private high school. Students must maintain at least a 5-point grade average on a 6-point scale to be named to the honor roll. Harris is a member of the Class of 2011.
SSHS and CU alumna to attend Duke University
Lauren Weaver, who graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 2003 and the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2007, was accepted to Duke University's Physician Assistant Program. The two-year program begins on the Durham, N.C., campus in August.
Weaver has worked for the past two years at a women's clinic in Menlo Park, Calif. She is the daughter of Lynette and Norm Weaver, of Steamboat.
CMC seeking applications to fill Board of Trustees
Colorado Mountain College is seeking applicants for the Board of Trustees seat representing Steamboat Springs.
Longtime Steamboat resident and higher education supporter Benita Bristol held the seat until shortly before she died May 25.
Candidates must be eligible electors and live within the boundaries of the college's District 5, the Steamboat Springs School District boundaries.
The term expires in November. Should the appointee want to continue representing Steamboat on the board, he or she must file a petition to run for re-election in the November general election. Petitions will be available in the college's Glenwood Springs office Aug. 5 and must be returned by Aug. 28.

Hayden School District posts proposed bus stops
The Hayden School District has made its Proposed School Bus Routes and Town of Hayden Bus Stops information available on its Web site about halfway down the right side of the page at www.haydenschools.org.
Transportation Director Festus Hagins, who said he would like to consolidate the number of bus stops to save wear and tear on the district's vehicles, presented the preliminary proposal to School Board members Wednesday.
Visitors to the site can click on links to view the proposed stops, north and south town maps or a link to e-mail comments to the district.
Hagins told board members the proposal reduced the number of all-day stops to 16 from about 40. Hagins said he'd like to submit a formal proposal to the board at its Aug. 19 meeting, before the 2009-10 school year begins.
Montana State announces 2 Steamboat graduates
Andrew Garber and Michael Gleason, of Steamboat, received their diplomas during Montana State's 113th commencement ceremony in May.
Garber and Gleason graduated with honors for maintaining cumulative grade point averages between 3.25 and 3.69.
They were part of the university's 2,573 graduates from the summer and winter 2008 and spring 2009.
