Steamboat briefs: South Routt School Board to meet at 6 p.m. today


— The South Routt School Board meets at 6 p.m. today in the South Routt School District's administrative offices in Oak Creek, behind Soroco High School. Agenda items include a quarterly financial comparison, discussions of the proposed Song Mountain development, a charter school and elementary school gym construction and acceptance of three gifts from the Education Fund Board.

Participants needed for Hahn's Peak fair

Artisans and crafters are invited to participate in the fourth annual Hahn's Peak Arts, Crafts and Collectibles Fair, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 5. All spaces will be outside and rent for $30 each. Proceeds from space rentals benefit the Hahn's Peak Historical Society. Anyone interested in renting a space can call Becky at 846-3868.

Opera seeks volunteers for Aug. 8, 13 and 15 shows

The Emerald City Opera is seeking volunteers for its upcoming opera production, Aug. 8, 13 and 15, in the Julie Harris Theater at Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp, as well as for other productions this season. Hahn's Peak Museum open for the summer

The Hahn's Peak Museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. daily through Labor Day. The schoolhouse is closed temporarily for painting and will be open after the project is completed.

Hospital seeks artwork for Family Birth Place

Staff members at the new Family Birth Place at Yampa Valley Medical Center are looking for donations from local artists to enhance the ambiance of the hospital wing that opened in May.

"We are specifically interested in acquiring fine art photography of pregnant moms, newborns and new families to adorn the hallways and public areas," Family Birth Place nurse Alethea Stone said. Stone said the hospital also is interested in artwork of any medium that represents themes of growth, tranquility, inspiration, movement or change.
