Man led police on 30-mile pursuit from Routt County to Grand County

Glen Alan Shaffer was arrested on U.S. Highway 40 in Grand County after a chase that began in Routt County and reached 75 mph at times. The pursuit began after Steamboat Springs Police Department officers tried to pull over Shaffer near Fifth and Yampa streets.

Steamboat Briefs: Steamboat resident Brian Stothart still missing

Wyoming authorities have found a water shoe and a helmet that possibly belonged to Steamboat Springs resident Brian Stothart, but they have been unable to recover Stothart, 35, from the Encampment River where he is presumed to have drowned June 13 while boating with friends.

3 layoffs to be considered today, another dozen for 2010

The Routt County Board of Commissioners could decide today which county employees will lose their jobs as part of ongoing budget cuts. The commissioners also will consider whether to abandon a countywide furlough plan adopted in April.
