Australian skier Manuela Berchtold found plenty of untracked snow Monday at the Steamboat Ski Area. The same should hold true today, with the resort reporting 5 inches of snow in the past 24 hours and more expected throughout the day and night.
Snow expected through Thursday

Steamboat Springs It's shaping up to be a good day - or couple of days - on the slopes.
The Steamboat Ski Area is reporting 5 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, and more is on the way. The National Weather Service has placed a winter weather advisory in effect for Steamboat Springs until 5 p.m. Thursday. Between 2 and 4 inches of snow could fall in town during the day today, with another 3 to 5 inches falling tonight.
The forecast calls for even more snow at higher elevations, where a winter storm warning is in effect until Thursday afternoon. Those areas, including the slopes of Mount Werner, could see between 1 and 2 feet of snow before all is said and done.
The snow is expected to continue into Thursday before giving way to partly and mostly sunny skies Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The storm passing over Routt County today and Thursday could be enough to push the ski area past 100 inches of snow for the month of January. More than 3 feet of snow has fallen on the summit of Mount Werner since late last week.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center reports a "considerable" avalanche danger in the Steamboat zone for all aspects at or above treeline. The danger is "moderate" to "considerable" below treeline.
CAIC also reports that a number of large avalanches occurred Sunday in northern Routt County, particularly on and around Hahn's Peak.
