Bradley wins in Gunnison

Steamboat Springs High School Genna Bradley continued her hot start, winning the Gunnison Diving Invitational on Wednesday.
Bradley, who competes for Moffat County, won the meet by more than 40 points. Bradley had reached a state qualifying mark in the first meet of the season, but because the meet didn't provide the scores within five days, her score didn't count.
Bradley's jump in Gunnison, however, requalified her for the Feb. 13 and 14 state meet at Mountain View High School in Loveland.
Bradley next competes Jan. 17 at the Jeffco Meet. Her coach, David Fix, said the meet will be the biggest one of the season, featuring competitors from Class 4A and 5A.
"It's going to be with all the girls she's going to compete against at state," Fix said. "It will be exciting to see how she places at that meet."
Fix said he wants to see Bradley score 350 points or better at the meet. Qualification for Class 4A state is 300 points.
Bradley finished seventh at the state meet last year. Fix said he expects her to finish higher this year.
With the Jeffco Meet and several other top-notch competitions still on the horizon before the state meet, Fix said Bradley should have a good idea how she compares with the rest of the state.
"I'd love to see her place in the top five at state in 4A this year," Fix said. "She's worked hard and put in a lot of extra training. I think she can do really well at state. If she puts everything together with the hard work she's doing, she can achieve that top five."
