Fur shop opens outlet store on Lincoln Avenue

— Stephen Sanders, owner of Stephen's Furs and Outerwear in Torian Plum Plaza, has opened an outlet store on Lincoln Avenue. Many items at Stephen's Colorado Factory Outlet, which opened Dec. 26, are marked down to less than wholesale price. Stephen's Furs has been at the mountain for 16 years, and Sanders said he has been in the business for 30 years.

"I felt like there was a void in downtown Steamboat for a factory-direct store, which has substantial discounts on items that might be left over from my store or wholesale business," he said.

The shop is in the Pioneer Building at 737 Lincoln Ave., the former site of Heidi's Little Switzerland restaurant. It can be reached at 970-879-6226.

"I'm planning on staying there," Sanders said. "It's been very well received. Everybody loves a bargain, especially these days."

Sanders isn't closing his mountain location, he said.

"We own the real estate," he said. "We're not going anywhere."
