Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs School District has agreed to pay for one year's worth of credit monitoring for all current employees after the Tuesday night theft of a district laptop containing the Social Security numbers and names of 1,300 past and present employees.
In an e-mail sent to staff Friday, District Finance Director Dale Mellor wrote, "We have been in contact with one of the credit reporting agencies and have decided to offer all current employees a year's worth of credit monitoring. I don't have all the details yet, but wanted to let you all know as soon as possible that this protection will be offered by the district at no cost to you."
Mellor wrote that he will send out instructions when the deal is finalized.
