Oak Creek Town Board meets today at 7 p.m.

— The Oak Creek Town Board will hear a presentation tonight from a consultant interested in pursuing a water meter project with the town.

The board budgeted $5,000 this year for exploration of installing water meters for town water customers and for pursuance of grant funds for the project. Other agenda items for the meeting, at 7 p.m. at Oak Creek Town Hall, include a presentation on Soroco Middle School's Day of Service; Karen Tussey of the South Routt Economic Development Council; payment for Deputy Judge Bob Sonheim, who will hear municipal court cases on an as-needed basis; and a minor amendment to a past resolution regarding financing for the sewer line rehabilitation project Oak Creek undertook last year.

Oak Creek police survey deadline moved to Friday

Oak Creek's police focus group has extended the deadline for its policing survey until Friday. The questionnaires are designed to gather citizen input as the focus group explores future law enforcement options for the town.

Residents should have received a copy of the survey with their town utility bills during the first week of February. The original deadline for submission was Tuesday.

"Since we won't be able to compile them until Friday night, we figured we might as well accept them through Friday," Police Commissioner Dave Ege said.

Surveys must be returned to Oak Creek Town Hall. People who do not receive town utility bills but are Oak Creek residents, such as some renters, or anyone who needs a replacement copy, can pick one up at Town Hall, Bonfiglio Drug, The Mug Shot, Spiro's Trading Post or Select Super.

The focus group will use the survey findings to design its first public forum, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. March 3 at the South Routt School District offices in Oak Creek.
