Hayden teen Josh Hines earns Youth Corps honor

— Sixteen-year-old Josh Hines, of Hayden, will be honored tonight as the Steamboat Springs Community Youth Corps' 2008 Corpsmember of the Year. He's receiving the award from the city's Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services department.

He also received the 2008 Hardest Worker Award from the youth corps. His crew leaders wrote, "Josh is a super hard worker. He is physically and mentally prepared to work," according to a news release.

Hines said he works for the youth corps in summer to earn extra money. He's a sophomore at Hayden High School, where he plays basketball and baseball. His parents are Richard and Sheila Hines.

Hines advised other youth corps members to "try hard and have fun."

Scarves on sale to benefit breast cancer awareness

Pink scarves are for sale through Saturday at Epilogue Book Co. on Lincoln Avenue, to benefit the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Program. Donations of yarn or cash for yarn also can be dropped of at Epilogue. Call Jo at 846-2627 for details.
