"Good Morning America Weekend" airs at 6 a.m. Sunday on Channel 7 for Comcast customers. Steamboat Springs is scheduled as the featured destination in Sunday's "Weekend Window" segment.
Steamboat Springs is scheduled to be on ABC's "Good Morning America Weekend" on Sunday.
A film crew from the weekly news program was in town for the 96th annual Winter Carnival, shooting footage for a 2 1/2-minute segment called "Weekend Window." The segment highlights an American destination during each Sunday's "Good Morning America."
The crew shot footage of the Winter Carnival Night Extravaganza on Saturday and the Diamond Hitch Parade on Sunday, said Molly Killien, media and public relations manager for the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association.
"To be featured like this is going to be wonderful exposure," Killien said.
The Chamber worked with Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. to set up interview and filming opportunities in town and at the Steamboat Ski Area, Killien said. Among the locals interviewed for the program were two representatives of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club: Olympic ski racer and Alpine Program Director Deb Armstrong and Executive Director Rick DeVos.
A "Good Morning America" film crew was scheduled to come to Steamboat in December, but the trip fell through, Ski Corp. spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said. Representatives from the Chamber and Ski Corp. stayed in touch with people from the show and confirmed a chance to feature Steamboat Springs as a resort and town during Winter Carnival about two weeks ago, Kasten said.
Recent "Weekend Window" segments have featured destinations such as the harbor village of Grand Marais, Minn., Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in California and the Adirondack winter recreation areas near Lake Placid, N.Y.
"Good Morning America Weekend" airs at 6 a.m. Sunday.
