SmartWool earns honor from US Ski Team CEO
Steamboat Springs-based SmartWool won the sixth annual Doc DesRoches Award. SnowSports Industries America and the U.S. Ski Team present the award, recognizing an SIA member and team supplier for its promotion of the team's brand and athletes, according to a news release. The award was presented at the SIA.09 Snowsports Trade Show in Las Vegas.
"SmartWool has been a truly valuable partner for our athletes," U.S. Ski Team President and CEO Bill Marolt said in the release. "First, the company has taken an essential product like socks, talked to our athletes about their needs and put significant performance enhancements into its product. And this year, SmartWool has expanded in a licensing program to take our brand out on its products to over a million consumers."
U.S. Ski Team member Bill Demong praised SmartWool in the release.
"The team at SmartWool has a great idea of how to get the most technical aspects out of wool," said Demong, who is one of the athletes providing performance feedback to the company. "The comfort of SmartWool socks is unsurpassed. And I really like the anti-microbial qualities, which is especially good for us being on the road so long."
