Steamboat Springs Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. is renewing the Kids Fly Free program it has offered since 2001.
The program is available for midweek travel from Jan. 3 to Feb. 12 with dates varying by airline. Kids Fly Free allows one child — ages 12 and younger — to fly free to and from Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden, on a participating airline, when a parent purchases at least two nights lodging, lift tickets and round-trip airfare.
For families that ski for five or more days, the program can be combined with Ski Corp.’s Kids Ski Free and Kids Rent Free programs for additional savings, Ski Corp. officials said in a news release last week.
The Kids Fly Free program can be accessed by calling Steamboat Central Reservations at 800-922-2722, or by visiting www.steamboat.com/kidsflyfree.
Andy Wirth, Ski Corp.’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, said the program is part of Ski Corp.’s effort to provide family-oriented packages to Steamboat Ski Area.
“Kids Fly Free enables families to enjoy significant savings to the No. 1 family resort in North America,” Wirth said in the release. “Steamboat was the first ski resort in the country to offer Kids Fly Free, setting the standard within the industry much like it did with Kids Ski Free in the early 1980s.”
Ski Corp. spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said the Kids Ski Free program started in 1982, Kids Rent Free started in 1994 and Kids Fly Free started in 2001.
Kasten said this season’s expansion of the ski area’s Kids’ Vacation Center, which nearly doubled in size, has received strong reviews from ski area guests this winter.
“Our customers have been really excited about the expanded Kids’ Vacation Center,” Kasten said. “We’re getting a lot of positive feedback from people participating in the program.”
The Kids Fly Free offer is subject to availability and is not available at all fare levels or classes of service.
