Hinder earns Denver Post honor

Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs High School senior quarterback Austin Hinder was named The Denver Post’s All-Colorado Offensive Player of the Year on Sunday.
Hinder, who also was named the All-Colorado quarterback, threw for 2,205 yards, 25 touchdowns and just six interceptions this season, during the Sailors’ thrilling run to the Class 3A state championship game. Hinder also rushed for 889 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final year at the Sailors’ helm.
Hinder also has been named this postseason as the Class 3A Player of the Year and to the first-team Class 3A All-State team as a quarterback. Joining him on the Class 3A first team was Steamboat running back Joe Dover and receiver Jack Spady.
Dover ran for 1,400 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, to go along with 482 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Dover also was named the first-team specialist, averaging 22 yards a punt return and 32 yards a kickoff return.
Spady caught 64 passes for 1,105 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Hayden High School junior linebacker Treyben Letlow was named to the first-team Class 1A all-state team. Soroco High School senior Cody Miles made the first-team 8-man football team as a linebacker.
