New Orleans drummer, burn survivor Caro is all in

When he was 2, Dan Caro was badly burned in a fire and lost his hands. A long road to recovery included four months in the hospital, “80-ish” skin grafts, reconstructive surgeries and other operations at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston. Treatments continued through his 18th birthday. It was unbelievably tough, but Caro said he wouldn’t trade the struggle for an average life. “I’m all in, that’s my attitude,” Caro said.

High school seniors applying for college and scholarships

In a perfect world, Devin Wilkinson would attend Colorado College in Colorado Springs, play intramural hockey and try to walk on to the Division III school’s girls volleyball team. Knowing it’s not a perfect world, Wilkinson is keeping her options open and many of the seniors at Steamboat Springs High School are doing the same.

Our view: New postal plan a bit better

The latest plans offered by the U.S. Postal Service for Steamboat Springs may not be perfect, but they’re a step in the right direction. It’s hard to expect a lot of concessions from a federal agency projected to lose $3.8 billion this year.

Study: Routt lags in charitable donations

County behind others in giving

The holiday season in Routt County is chock full of charity parties, toy drives and fundraising efforts. John F. Russell: The king of state titles

Last weekend’s championship football game between Steamboat Springs and Valor Christian reminded me just how special a state title is in a community like ours. I’m sad to say that one of the men who truly understood the significance of a state title in Steamboat Springs is no longer with us.
