BAP, a Steamboat Springs-based outdoor gear and clothing retailer, is hosting a sale from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at 735 Oak St. to benefit Routt County United Way. The event includes appetizers by Mountain High Catering, beer and wine from Cellar Liquors, door prizes from BAP and 30 to 60 percent off selected items.

Zirkel Wireless adds antenna sites in Moffat

Steamboat Springs-based Zirkel Wireless announced last week the completion of three new antenna sites to provide high-speed Internet access in Moffat County. Zirkel said in a news release that the completion represents the largest single-year expansion in the company’s history and increases the Zirkel Wireless network to 19 antenna sites, with 85 access points, in Northwest Colorado. The Moffat County sites include an antenna on the city of Craig’s Sand Rock water tower, Cedar Mountain and the RE/MAX building in downtown Craig. The sites also increase Internet capacity and connection speeds in Hayden, the news release stated.

Mainstreet seeking business nominations

Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is seeking nominations for the downtown business and downtown businessperson of 2009. The awards will be presented during Mainstreet’s annual meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Old Town Pub & Restaurant. Mainstreet’s board of directors is seeking nominations of Mainstreet members, by Mainstreet members. Entrants needed for holiday light parade

Mainstreet Steamboat Springs is holding its first Santa Parade as part of Merry Mainstreet on Saturday. The group is seeking entrants for the holiday light parade. Santa will bring up the rear, and Merry Mainstreet is from 4 to 7 p.m. There is no entry fee to participate. Builders’ group places Toys for Tots boxes

The Home Builders Association of Steamboat Springs has placed Toys for Tots collection boxes at All That Jazz, Alpine Bank, City Market, Embellishments, Epilogue Book Co., F.M. Light & Sons, Laurel Street Preschool, Off The Beaten Path Bookstore, Safeway, Snow Bowl, Steamboat Motors and Steamboat Ski Area, through Dianne Stoyko at 970-871-5403. The association is accepting new, unwrapped toys; new or gently used coats; scarves; gloves; hats; sweaters; and winter items.
