Cassandra Schmid and Natalie Smith, who will be freshmen at Soroco High School in the fall, were preparing their animals Tuesday for judging that is scheduled for Thursday at the Routt County Fair. Poultry and rabbit weigh-in started Tuesday afternoon and continues this morning at the Hayden fairgrounds.

Commissioners vote to purchase rights of way on C.R. 14

Routt County will try to acquire 44 acres from landowners along Routt County Road 14. Acquiring the rights of way is necessary before the county can reconstruct a five-mile section that begins at its northern intersection with Colorado Highway 131.

Hermacinski decides to face Bennett in District 1 race

Local landscaper Kyle Pietras said Monday that he will run in this year's Steamboat Springs City Council election. Pietras said he would run for the four-year, District 1 seat being vacated by term-limited Councilman Steve Ivancie or council's two-year, at-large seat held by Councilwoman Cari Hermacinski.
